We need help from everyone across the district to make our events a success:-
Is there an event that you want to see in the district? Join our events organising team by getting in touch with Danni Allman (events@hls-scouts.org.uk) and the events team will work with you to make your event happen.
Be there as part of the team who makes the event happen at the weekend - we need lots of people to get involved at each event, we need caterers, tent pitchers, marshalls, first aiders, photographers, problem solvers, minibus drivers, instructors and lots more. Volunteers who join our events will be allocated a role during our event - we'll be in touch ahead of each event with details.
Help us to promote the events to our members across the district - making events a success is down to having lots of young people taking part and helping us get the word out is really important.
Our plan is to communicate regularly with all adult volunteers in the district as we develop our events programme (whether you are a trustee board member, or section team member, we'll be in touch).
Once we're sharing information about specific events, we'll share the detail with section teams and we'll keep our events pages up to date here.
In general, we'll aim to share information across our leader team at the same time, which means you can book you and your young person in.
Where you help us to deliver an event, you should not be out of pocket. Receipts will be reimbursed (please submit to events@hls-scouts.org.uk with your bank details and a brief description of what the expenses relate to).
Mileage can be claimed at a rate of 30p per mile - this is to cover fuel costs only.
Wherever possible we'll work to ensure that young people who wish to participate in our events are able to do so even if there are no members of their group attending. This may not always be possible but we'll do our best.

We're currently directing young people back to their groups to discuss financial support, this is because groups understand the circumstances of their members best and can make a recommendation on provision of financial support. Please contact events@hls-scouts.org.uk to discuss an individual case.
This is event dependent:-
Where possible, day events will be free for leaders, but where the event is largely ran by a 3rd party activity and there is a cost for leaders participation there will be a cost for leaders. We will work to keep the cost down where possible.
Events which involve a night (or more) away will request a contribution towards food (around £12 per night). In addition, we may charge for adult participation in certain activities.
For international events, charges for adults will be in line with those for young people (with similar opportunities to fundraise to reduce costs)
