Emergency Aid: Refreshed

posted 26 Sep 2010, 05:45 by Jonathan Chicken

This weekend, 10 adult leaders from the HLS district renewed their First Aid qualification, keeping themselves up to speed with current practice in Resuscitation, emergency incident management and some common conditions such as bleeding, heart attack and drugs/alcohol misuse.

Led by Tom Melia, the leaders felt this short course was a useful refresher on first aid's important bits and thereby helped them to carry their volunteer role more effectively. The handouts for the session (aimed at followup for the participants) are at the footer of this page.

Adult Leaders in the Scout Association commit to 25 hours of ongoing learning once qualifying. This reflects their commitment to quality provision for young people. Local volunteers in the district give up almost 200 hours per week supporting local adventures.
