Participants must be available 9.30am - 5.00pm on both days 9th / 10th April. The Youth Proficiency Scheme is a specially designed course delivered through a series of teaching and practical sessions by a qualified tutor to ensure that the student understands the precepts of safety and learns the skill necessary to enjoy the sport in a competitive manner. It is designed to ensure the safe and responsible handling of air rifles by young people.
The course has a maximum of 12 participants and to ensure good coverage, I've allocated places based on membership in 2011 Census. GSL's are to nominate adult leaders who they feel would offer their group the most opportunities to share the sport among members. I would suggest that this course is best suited to Explorer and Scout Section Leaders, followed by Cub Scout Leaders. Beaver Scout Leaders who take a wider role in the group could also be considered. Explorers: 1 Place 1st Eppleton, 1st Houghton, 1st Washington: 1 Place 1st Herrington: 2 Places 1st Fatfield & 3rd Washington: 3 Places. Adults wishing to take part should contact their Group Scout Leader or Explorer Scout Leader in the first instance. | ![]() |
