Cubs Go Capital
Last weekend, 65 Cubs
and adult leaders from Washington and Houghton-Le-Spring enjoyed a spectacular
big city adventure as they spent the weekend exploring London.
The
Houghton-Le-Spring district event brought together Cubs from across the
district for a unique weekend experience as they revelled in a whistle stop
tour of the capital city. The London trip provides an opportunity for Cubs to
learn about the world around them, make new friends and above all have a great
time away.
Arriving in the City on Friday evening after a long coach
journey, you would expect that Cubs would be a little tired, this wasn’t the

A Weekend of Firsts for Washington Scouts
Some experiences you will remember for the rest of your life, like spending your first night in a tent, lighting your first fire or the first time you spend a night away from home. This weekend, Scouts from Washington’s newest troop, 1st St Robert of Newminster Scouts enjoyed a packed programme as they spent their first ever night away as a group. The activities, based at Fatfield Scout Hut, encouraged our young people to work together and to support each other through a pioneering challenge, to learn some new skills such as backwoods cooking and we even fitted a visit to the Flow Rider at Heworth Pool in too. Scouts Enjoy International Adventure
White water,
terrifying heights and a view you wouldn’t believe were highlights of the week
as 85 Scouts from the Washington and Houghton area enjoyed the Ultimate Alpine
Adventure in Morrillon, French Alps/
The annual Houghton-Le-Spring District trip aims to bring
the Groups which make up the district together and challenges young people to
work together to overcome their fears, to support each other, and most
importantly, to have a great time.
